They See Me Rollin'. They Hatin'

The Superbowl may already feel like it was a lifetime ago, especially with everyone talking about March Madness all day errday, but even though most have forgotten, Kesh has not. As you may recall from our Superbowl Sunday post, LDye owed Kesh a pair of 'blades for losing the bet and he just recently paid up. In his defense though, rollerblades are weirdly difficult to find. Apparently it's atypical for an adult* to request a pair of these magical shoes on wheels.
This is how it went in several stores:
Salesperson: What are you looking for today?
K: A pair of rollerblades. For myself.
Salesperson: *Look of disbelief* Like, skates for ice or the street?
K: For the street. I'm takin' it to the streets.
*Crickets*
Salesperson: We might have some in the back...
Needless to say, Kesh left numerous stores empty handed and returned to what she does best- online shopping.

After a long hunt, Kesh discovered these bad boys on the Interweb.
Because every roller gal needs a partner in crime to roll through the neighbor with her, Jac's beginning her journey to obtain a pair of these for herself. We may have decided to take up this new hobby, but we're not overly confident about our skills and are aware there might be a long learning curve. Good thing we found a step-by-step guide to learning how to rollerblade.

"Why risk breaking a bone after a potential spill while rollerblading?" you may be thinking. Because skating at 20 mph (give us some time to work up to this. Before we know it, we'll be cruising down the streets of KC like we're Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy minus the ice + the pavement) can burn 360 calories per hour! 360! That's enough to take care of our Smallcakes habit. There are all kinds of benefits you can read about here. The website also compares this activity to other forms of exercise which proves that we're not crazy to think we can pretend to be our 90's kid selves and work on our fitness at the same damn time.
Hope we've convinced you to get off your ass and skate.
It's the freakin' weekend baby I'm we're about to have me us some fun.
K & J
*Maybe it's only odd for adults in America? The rollerblades were found on Amazon and were shipped from guess where... CANADA! Jac's homeland! This makes sense because Canadians love hockey and skates and shit.
If you think the idea of us becoming professional X Gamers with our skates (ya, that escalated quickly) is laughable, just wait for the fitness treat we have in store to share next Friday.

A Little Bit Country and a Little Bit Rock and Roll

Howdy dudes and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday! If you like country shit- and we're sure you do because you're in the Midwest- you're in luck!

Fleetwood Mac is coming to the Sprint Center this Saturday, March 28th. The Mac (can we call them that?) is technically a rock band, but is appreciated by many of our country music lovers.

Fleetwood Mac in the '70's. This is vintage, guys. They've been around since way before our time*.

The 28th is a b i g night-- Keith Urban is using his Star Power for the greater good and will be making an appearance at the Overland Park Convention Center. Proceeds will go the Boys and Girls club of greater Kansas City.

Why Don't We Do A Little Day Drinking?

Today's the day we've been waiting for f o r e v e r! And when we say "forever" we mean a whole week since ESPN and CBS announced the college basketball selections for the tournament. We are posted up on patios all around KC to drink and eat while we cheer for either Wichita State or KU at 4:15p today! We're sure you've all been just as excited about the potential to see this match up as that they don't schedule to at each other during the regular season.

We don't know about you all, but we're rooting for the underdog - Wichita State. As we mentioned previously, this is Jac's alma mater. Kesh has nothing against KU, but she is an MSU alum which is in the Missouri Valley Conference with Wichita State. Gotta support The Valley.

Cheers to beers!

May the best team (WSU) win

This the Type of Shit to Make the Hood Go Crazy

Happy Hump Day!

Work's the worst, but at least it's Wednesday*!

We're sure everyone's all partied out and wants to relax at home the next few days after all of this week's St. Patty's Day festivities, right? Let's hope not! There's too much to do in KC to stay home. This will be the first official weekend of Spring. Unfortunately, Mother Nature isn't currently being quite as kind as she has been the past few days, but 50 degrees still beats the freezing temperatures we had allllll winter.

If you are looking for something to do- We have three questions for you.

Do you like BBQ? Do you Like Brew? Do you dislike children? If  you answered yes, yes, and no…Thursday night is planned for you. March 19th is Brews&BBQ ** at Boulevard Brewing CO. The Young Advisory Board is sponsoring the event to help raise money for the Children’s Place . You can enjoy Jack Stack BBQ and some Boulevard beers for the low price of $35 and the proceeds go to charity! (Think about the good Karma) You can get your basketball fix as there will be March madness games and raffles going on so throughout the evening.

Speaking of March Madness - We hope everyone got their brackets in! The games will be starting and friendly reminder: most brackets are due tomorrow at 11 a.m. We plan on going to watch a few games this weekend and there are plenty of places to do it.

Day drinking anyone? @Alehousekc last weekend

"Kesh and Jac, where do we go to watch the games?" you ask.

Our favorites include the Well in Waldo, Ale House in Westport, and Grandfalloon on the Plaza. If you live in the Burbs- We suggest Johnny's located on almost every corner. Not mad about it because they have great drink specials and the food ain't bad either.

Comment below to let us know what you're getting into this weekend! #Keshandjac as you play around KC!

For your listening pleasure, just because we love @_techn9ne_, B.o.B. and 2 Chainz.

TGIF

Happy Friday the 13th

S p o o k y news-- Summer is almost here and our bodies are kinda scary because we hit the snooze on life a few too many times this winter and over extended our hibernation*.
This is a sad time for Kesh and Jac—not too long ago we were able to run a 10k (that is over six miles, guys) and now…we are struggling with two. We have the Diva Dash coming up on March 28th and have already signed up for a second-the Heart & Soul Classic 5K on May 2nd.  How the hell will we make it 3.2 miles?! Today’s Friday Fit day is dedicated to sharing some of our favorite trails we'll be using ways to get back into running shape!

Clearly before a run. No one's this happy during or immediately after. Amirite?

You are right Kesh...Not happy.
Long trail around a lake. Scenic, but chilly on a breezy day- especially when you're running near the dam.
Lots of sports fields as well as a trail and a lake if you need to take a break to relax. The best part though, is the off-leash dog area. This area is completely fenced in so don't worry about Fido getting away if he/she is a runner.

Shawnee Mission Park
The Mill Creek Streamway Trail goes through Shawnee Mission Park and is over 26 miles long- spanning through most of Johnson County. This park has a 53-acre off leash dog area, not fenced enough to keep your dogs in
so make sure they're well trained.

A Kansas City favorite is the trail at Swope Park. It's 18 miles and is mainly used for biking, but walkers and runners are welcome, too.

This little nug  would be a goner if
we took him to a park that wasn't fenced.
Don't feel like driving? Hit the streets in your hood. When in a crunch for time or you don't want to deal with finding your keys/starting your car/driving said car to a particular trail... the sidewalks around our neighborhoods work just fine. Sometimes (a lot of times) it's difficult enough to find the motivation to work out so it's best to start running right outside your front door, leaving no time to delay the torture fun. Running is fun...

There's a ridic amount of parks and trails in the Kansas City area and we would be here all day if we tried to list them all. #Keshandjac to share where you're playing outside this weekend and comment below to give suggestions of your favorites

Today's motivational song is inspired by March Madness. Thanks, Quad City DJs!

 Later,
K & J

*Thinking about it, we don't need to feel too bad because it's technically not Spring yet. There are seven days left of winter so don't mind if we get back in our beds and binge watch Scandal on Netflix until March 20th.

This is Daryl in a box. Just because.

Theodore (Ted) is Kesh's dog; Daryl is Jac's cat. They look like siblings, but that's highly unlikely.
