The Superbowl may already feel like it was a lifetime ago, especially with everyone talking about March Madness all day errday, but even though most have forgotten, Kesh has not. As you may recall from our Superbowl Sunday post, LDye owed Kesh a pair of 'blades for losing the bet and he just recently paid up. In his defense though, rollerblades are weirdly difficult to find. Apparently it's atypical for an adult* to request a pair of these magical shoes on wheels.
This is how it went in several stores:
Salesperson: What are you looking for today?
K: A pair of rollerblades. For myself.
Salesperson: *Look of disbelief* Like, skates for ice or the street?
K: For the street. I'm takin' it to the streets.
*Crickets*
Salesperson: We might have some in the back...
Needless to say, Kesh left numerous stores empty handed and returned to what she does best- online shopping.
After a long hunt, Kesh discovered these bad boys on the Interweb.
Because every roller gal needs a partner in crime to roll through the neighbor with her, Jac's beginning her journey to obtain a pair of these for herself. We may have decided to take up this new hobby, but we're not overly confident about our skills and are aware there might be a long learning curve. Good thing we found a step-by-step guide to learning how to rollerblade.
"Why risk breaking a bone after a potential spill while rollerblading?" you may be thinking. Because skating at 20 mph (give us some time to work up to this. Before we know it, we'll be cruising down the streets of KC like we're Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy minus the ice + the pavement) can burn 360 calories per hour! 360! That's enough to take care of our Smallcakes habit. There are all kinds of benefits you can read about here. The website also compares this activity to other forms of exercise which proves that we're not crazy to think we can pretend to be our 90's kid selves and work on our fitness at the same damn time.
Hope we've convinced you to get off your ass and skate.
It's the freakin' weekend baby I'm we're about to have me us some fun.

*Maybe it's only odd for adults in America? The rollerblades were found on Amazon and were shipped from guess where... CANADA! Jac's homeland! This makes sense because Canadians love hockey and skates and shit.
If you think the idea of us becoming professional X Gamers with our skates (ya, that escalated quickly) is laughable, just wait for the fitness treat we have in store to share next Friday.
