Memorial Day Weekend!

Wednesdays Thursdays  Friday* are already pretty great because it's a reminder we have made it through way the work week. This one is extra special because Memorial Day Weekend is here! Three full workless days. Unless you work weekends...sorry bro. Let's take some time to remember those fought for this fine country...and have a drink! Here are some of the spectacular events going on around KC this weekend.

Royals VS Cardinals! We will be out there watching our boys in blue at Saturday at the K! We have to make up for our tailgating fails of last weekend, and this is the game to do it!  (if you cant do Saturday- they also play Friday and Sunday)

If you are into sci fi, fantasy, dungeons and dragons type shit- Spectrum Fantastic Art Live will be here all weekend long. There is something for errybody at this showcase. They encourage both established artists to come share their craft and those that are new to the fictional world. From movies and video games to card games and comic books. So if you like to collect or want to show off some of your work- this event is for you!

Of course. There will be parties and drinks specials at almost every bar around KC. We suggest you check out Char Bars new patio - It is equipped with ping pong, croquet, bags, and some ball game...we have no idea what the fuck it is but anything is fun after a few stops at fully stocked bar!

This memorial day you can go see the 400 feet long spectacular AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall. It is a close to scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in D.C! It is also free to the public - cause you dont have to pay money to love #merica

On top of the above fun events. It is opening day for Oceans of Fun AND the Orangutan Canopy opens this weekend at the Zoo! Imagine if the orangutans were at oceans of fun....

If you're getting wild and going to the lake (if you're not from around here, "the lake" is the Lake of the Ozarks) despite the cold, you better hit the road ASAP. You don't want to be stuck in traffic Friday after work waiting to get to Party Cove or whatever your lake destination is.

#keshandjac and let us know what shenanigans you get into this weekend

Welcome to the Blue Hell

Sporting KC virgins
Saturday yours truly (K&J obvi) attempted to experience a Sporting KC soccer game. This would have been Kesh's first Sporting game!

Jacs "this is not a tailgate" photo
We were beyond excited to get a prime parking spot hours before the game because rumor had it that Sporting KC has the best tailgating...Jac has been to a few games before and has very fond memories of the tailgating with other rowdy soccer fans! Well bring on the disappointment. There were very few tailgates and those who were just stood around in small groups with a few beers. Where's the food? The games? The ruckus? The PEOPLE!? We like our tailgating with a side of shenanigans!
After our crew finished our hotdogs and put up the grill, we grabbed our roadies and hustled* to the shuttle! Not mad about the shuttle. It conveniently picks you up in the parking lot and drives you over to the game. It was a little concerning initially we when we were guided into the Speedway parking lot that is a bit of a foot journey from The Blue Hell.

Tailgating let us down, but the stadium was legit. You're greeted with a sign that says "Welcome to The Blue Hell" and they offer a signature drink sell a signature drink for a pretty penny appropriately titled Blue Hell. It's blue curaçao, lemonade and some other things- we can't remember exactly, Just Google it. Pretty delightful, but after one you'll want some beer to keep from getting sick because it's really sweet.

Literally (we can say literally because it's 100% accurate and used appropriately), as we were in the middle of purchasing our first round of drinks in the stadium the rain started. And didn't stop for what seemed like hours. We immediately booked it to the little bit of shelter we could find- which happened to be a small section between the men's restrooms. Safety from the storm, but not from the farts one evil Sporting fan kindly shared with all of us in close quarters.

Our view from the mens restroom

After hanging out here for a bit and Snap Chatting everyone we knew about the devastating and severe danger we were in, the stadium police (think Paul Blart: Mall Cop, but less friendly) tried to separate the men from the women and children old-school, Titanic style. Our only nearby shelter during the lightning and tornado watch was a men's restroom, but Felicia** wasn't havin' it. No way can ladies try to seek shelter in the men's room- or try to actually use the men's restroom (hey- like we mentioned it was a storm and we'd also been drinking. If ya gotta go, ya gotta go) during times of emergency.

The Crew

After waiting about two hours for Mother Nature to calm her shit, we decided to take our chances and book it back to our cars during a break from the monsoon. This was a good call because the game was eventually postponed due to the weather.
Maybe next time we'll get to watch Bessler score instead of chillin' in the men's restroom while sipping on some Blue Hell.

-K & J

*Hustled is a bit dramatic. Like we mentioned previously, there was hardly anyone in the parking lot so there was no rush to grab a seat on a shuttle. Maybe it was the weather? We'll give ya that, Sporting KC. Maybe everyone else was smart enough to check the forecast before committing to their Saturday night festivities.

**Her name was likely not Felicia, but we weren't friends with her. Bye Felicia.

People Say We Monkey Around

Another week has come and gone, but there were moments during Monday through Thursday that made us doubt we'd ever make it to Friday. Congratulations friends, we finally made it to the weekend and we're free to do whatever the fuck we want! For two whole days... sorry to be depressing.

If you are one of our regular readers, you may have noticed that Fridays are reserved for talking about our fitness adventures and taking care of yourself in general. You might be thinking- Fridays are for fun, not worrying about working out. We feel ya, but we also know the pools will be open before we know it and we don't want to scare people. So because we tend to have an unhealthy relationship food, we have to do something now and then to keep our bodies in check.

Exhibit A- Jacs breakfast.
She couldn't even get her camera out before taking a bite. #foodissues.
But working out doesn't mean you have to go lift weights or run a marathon- which is good because our limit is running 6 miles. You can do little fun things everyday to get your steps in. Sometimes we don't want to work out which means we trick ourselves into it. And because we love you because we like you (we don't know you that well), we will share some of the fun things we do that still gets that heart pumping!

Go to the park.  We are aware we are in our mid 20's and you think we'd look like fools playing on a playground, but can you honestly tell us you don't get jealous seeing kids on the swings?  Not that we are watching kids on swings... You can get a pretty solid work out in just playing around at the park! Take the monkey bars for example- those arms will be toned before you know it.

Smiling to not show the kiddos at the park how difficult this is- but one time across was enough. Translation: it hurt like a bitch.

Hike or explore your neighborhood. It can still be chilly enough in the evenings to create a bonfire so why not go on a hike to pick up some sticks for it instead of spending cash money on pre-cut logs! Bonus: Have a pup friend to do it for you.
Good work, Ted. Way to be thrifty.

Walk it out. Not in the mood to lurk around the park? Why not take your dog or cat (yep, cat) for a walk. On average you can burn 415 calories* in a one hour walk! So you are getting exercise and being a good pet parent!

Daryl only takes sophisticated walks- note the bow tie
Later,

K&J

*Don't Google for accuracy. Trust us, walking is a good workout. Speed walking is even an Olympic event.

Big Willie Style

For those who like to plan real far in advance/are fully aware that tickets to events sell out fast around here. Incubus will be in town August 23rd! This is a big weekend for KC because that's the night after Kevin Hart will grace us with his presence. And we all know that will be an interesting night.

We don't know what this is about but we can't wait to find out

For those who don't do much planning at all- You may still be able to snag a ticket to see Willie Nelson and Beck this Friday at Starlight. Yes, Grammy Album of the Year Winner Beck and Willie Freaking Nelson.
They will be digging coal after the show?....

In Sports news- This Saturday come watch Colorado VS Sporting KC - These boys will play rain or shine, which is good cause it is probably going to be raining. If you haven't been to a sporting game you need to check it out. We will be there (hopefully not in our ponchos, come on sunshine) so come see us at the tailgate! We will be the people drinking beer.....

You're more of a baseball fan?...Royals vs Yankees and Friday is Buck Night! Every Friday throughout the season is Buck Night! Enjoy $1 peanuts and hotdogs. Get yo tickets here! There will also be f i r e w o r k s! Queue Katy Perry

Poppin' Champagne and Eating Frozen Cake

We did it! LDye and I made it to our one year anniversary! Holla!

Back in the day, this used to be no big deal, but these days some don't even make it to year one- which makes me super sad- but let's be honest, marriage ain't easy. They* say the first year is the hardest. This could be because traditionally Mr. and Mrs.'s? didn't live together until they were married. Then immediately after getting hitched they had to deal with combining shit, tossing duplicates of shit, getting used to being in each other's space, and a lack of mystery in the relationship (you know what I'm talking about guys. How many times do you have to poop in one day?!) However LDye and I took the untraditional route of living in sin. Don't tell mom and dad. Just kidding, they obviously knew. My hubs and I moved in together a little more than a year before we got married. We signed on our home while we were still single...that's when the c o u n t d o w n began meaning he had put a ring on it, ammirite? I didn't verbally tell him that, but I'm sure he could see it in my eyes!

Anyway, fast forward a couple of years are we're here. 365 days into our marriage, as of April 26th.

Unfortunately, we spent most of our anniversary traveling back from LA, but we still made time to try a bite of our wedding cake and drink some champs for a mini celebration. Honestly, the cake was sick. Whoever thought it should be a thing to freeze the top part of your wedding cake to eat on your first anniversary was cray. It was frost bitten nastiness. Thank goodness for the bottle of bubbly to wash it down.
The main event space at The Bauer
Our ceremony and reception were at The Bauer in downtown KC! What a gem! When my best gal/MOH stumbled across The Bauer, it was still a diamond in the rough. The space was in the process of a renovation during our first visit. Some may still think it's in a reno stage because of the exposed brick and old warehouse feel, but that's what attracted us to it. Our decor was minimal because of the city loft look, the string lights, and the gorgeous view when the sun set. Our guest list included 100 or so of our family and friends and there was plenty of room to accommodate everyone shuffling into the cocktail hour space during the room flip. We didn't hear any complaints about the event space and we all know bitches like to complain about weddings.

Cute details in the Bride's room. There is also a Groom's room across the hall with gentlemen-ly décor. These were great areas for LDye and I to stay separated before the ceremony while hanging with our crews.
I hate to brag, but our wedding was kinda the shit. Our ceremony was short and sweet then we partied. It was definitely one for the books and there was no shortage of dancing (thanks to the dj) or drinking. Helpful Wedding Day Tips: 1. Take it e a s y on the pre-ceremony wine. Drink a glass to calm the nerves and relax yourself, but don't get weird at two in the afternoon. 2. Your wedding is not the time to show off your Fireball-shooting skills. If you choose to ignore either of these tips, you will be a hot mess in front of your guests and have lots of classy photos like these:

Not the best idea when your grandparents and brand new In-Laws are nearby.

Then this happens...

Oh hey, Jac

We've got moves

Photo Cred: Abundant Life Photography

Our photographers were awesome! Abundant Life P h o t o g r a p h y is an adorable couple duo. It worked out perfectly to have two photographers to capture girls being girls and guys being guys in the hours leading up to "I do". They did an amazing job of getting a mix of candid photos as well as more formal photos.
 Jac's perspective:
The Ceremony was wonderful- I have sat through some looooong ass ceremonies before and it's miserable. I think most guests appreciate the quick, "I love you, I love you too. You are married"  type. The Bauer was Bomb. Great views of the city at night. The venue was the perfect size for the amount of people that came to the wedding AND Its in a great location in KC. I loved that you walk in downstairs to an art gallery and you walk up to all wood floors and open ceilings. I did not follow the side note tips...I partook in some of that fireball and things got weird (as you can see in the above photos) I felt it the next day.

Cheers to 100 more years,
-K & J

Time to go shopping! The traditional year one anniversary gift is paper. Is it okay that the only reason I know this is because of Gone Girl?

See Kesh & Jac Run

Happy Friday, Bitches!

This past weekend we competed in the Olathe Heart & Sole 5k in historic downtown Olathe. We use the word competed lightly as it's always technically a competition because it's a race, but we're both humbly aware that we're not the fastest kids in town and we won't ever be in the running for one of the First, or Second, or Fifth place prizes. We're just in it to say we completed the race and challenged ourselves.

Bummer news about the Olathe Heart & Sole 5k- There were no medals! What the fuck? Apparently the Olathe Running Club doesn't give participation medals, or at least not in last Saturday's race. Let's be honest- we're in it for the medals! We'll stick with the KC Running Club from now on because they make you feel like Rick Ross when your done.

Imagine the chain is a participation medal and he'd been working out/eating less and also a lady and that'd be us.

Kesh PR'd on this race and completed her goal of running two 5ks for the year. And Jac has a second coming up in June. What's next for K&J? A 10k! We're likely going to sign up for the Plaza 10k which is on September 13th at the Plaza, obvi, and is hosted by the KC Running Club. We both ran it last year so hopefully we will be even faster!

This starts our journey with the 10k training plan. You can find it here

We also don't want to miss out on KC Running Companies Ladies Night. Tuesday May 19th- Thursday May 21st KC Running Company will be hosting Ladies night in Leawood equipped with food, drinks, prizes AND an inspirational speakers from "Damsel in Defense" #girlpower

Our thoughts every time.

Get up and move,*

K & J
*Sorry to be so demanding. Could you please, like, run and join us for our next race? K, Thanks!

Rain Rain Go Away!

How you doin', Wednesday?

Hungover from Cinco? Sounds about right. We hope you enjoyed your margaritas and cerveza at one of the many delicious Mexican restaurants* around Kansas City

But now it is time to pep up! We have almost made it to the weekend! Unfortunately, the shitty weather of the week is staying with us through the weekend. 80 degrees sounds nice, but not when it is accompanied by rain and lightning. Damn you Lezak and Busby**

Because FRIENDS is always hilarious. We're not friends if you think otherwise.
As annoying as it is to battle frizzy hair and sweat in the humidity, we're not strangers to this in the Midwest so we'll keep on truckin'. And by keep on truckin' we mean we'll keep our activities indoors/partially indoors to maintain our 'do.

Buzz Under The Stars- Night One is TOMORROW. You can still get your tickets to see Matt and Kim, Kitten, and Meg Meyers. This is such an amazing line up. You'll feel like a nerd if you miss out. The venue hosting this shindig is Power & Light so bring your ponchos in case of rain.

Do you ever just want to yell about the happenings in society, but don't want people to think you're one of the crazies? Good news! Lewis Black is coming to town and he'll do the yelling for you. Come watch Lewis' unique comedic style of quasi angry yet optimistic- and listen to him point out the ludicrousness of the world this Friday, May 8th at the Midland. Check it out here.

Love laughing? Clusterfunk is reassembling this weekend for an improv show at the Kick Comedy Theater in Westport. This is supposed to be a fast paced show that requires some audience participation, so don't be shy! We had to share this event because Clusterfunk is just too ridiculous to not say.

Public Service Announcement: This Sunday is Mother's Day. Shout out to all the baby mommas out there! Now go get a card and drop it in the mail. It's the least you could do, kid. Both of us are expecting something special and heart-felt from our fur babies because we're moms too, right?

Stay Dry Friends,
K&J

*To name a few of our favorites-Mi Ranchito, Chuys, Ponaks, Mannys, Port Fonda...welp now we're hungry. Now we're off to get 4th meal.

**Kidding- We love you guys and know you don't create the weather....or do you?

My Waist is like WHOA

Here at Kesh and Jac we like to explore different types of health and fitness regimens. You have to have the full balance of working out, eating healthy, and primping (getting your hair did never hurt nobody) plus a little splash of ridiculous weight loss trends that probably won't work, but all the celebs are doing it so we have to try!
Today we will be sharing one of the trends.

As we have mentioned in previous posts, we are very interested in having a body like Kim Kardashian.
She gets a lot of flack for not smiling..but she can't breath, guys.

It only made sense we check out the new hot trend of Waist Trainers. Jac took the plunge and ordered one from the Waist Gang Society.

Now let's get the complaints out of the way. It took for-eh-ver to get the order. Not being dramatic for once- It took a full month to the day to get the damn thing in. No patience for that. Also, if you try to call or email the Waist Gang Society to check on your order- you will be sent to a voicemail box (a voicemail box that's full. Sketch) No replies.

Jac thought she had been scammed for a few weeks, but once received- excitement ensued...Then some sadness.
This new* process of waist cinching went something like this.

1. Stretch it out

We assumed tugging on the garment would make it easier to put on
2. Put it on

Ashlee (as seen in photo) -"I dont think its going to fit"
Jac- "Bitch, this is a Medium you make it fit I will NOT get a bigger size!"**

Apparently getting my circulation cut of makes me a bit moody...

Jac as a dead fish yelling at Ashlee
I double checked the sizing and a medium is what they suggest. I don't know how anyone would be able to get it on by themselves. It takes an army to buckle that thing up.

3. Live your life

If you want to walk around or stand you are good to go-- Sitting not so much. But at least nobody can tell you are cheating at being skinny!
#justlikeKimK
Nobody Knows
Some Pros and Cons

Pros - posture is on point. You have no choice but to stand with your chest out and shoulders back.
Cons Can not breath ...and need help standing...my legs started to get numb (that's normal, right?)

Def can't eat or even drink anything-So perhaps that is the true weight loss secret. Starve or bust. Literally- you will bust out of it.

It has only been a couple days of wearing it and you are supposed to ease yourself into it till you are comfortable enough to wear it for a full 8 hour day. Even though it has only been a couple hours of wearing it- I would like to think it is starting to work. Or at least I am telling myself my waist is teeny tiny and I haven't just wasted my time and money. The Kardashians wouldn't lie!

Kesh was skeptical/too cheap to become a member of the Waist Gang Society- as cool as that sounds- but this doesn't mean she's shit outta luck.

There are a ton of websites that share the steps of an At-Home body wrap, which is a more budget-friendly way to get skinny.

How does it work? In a nutshell- wrap yourself in Saran Wrap and get hot. Get hot meaning after you're covered in plastic and feeling leftovers, wrap yourself in a blanket too. The warmer you are and the more you sweat glisten (ladies don't sweat), the greater results you'll have.

The results of the body wrap are temporary because you're essentially losing water weight and toxins. Lame. BUT it's a quick fix if you're in a pinch and need to slim your waistline to get into a pair of skinny jeans or figure-hugging dress tomorrow night.

We will keep you updated on Jac's hourglass figure. As for Kesh's figure, she just busted out of the plastic wrap to eat dinner. Better luck next time.

K&J

*New to Jac. We're aware squeezing one's body parts into little contraptions has been around for ages.

**One, no lady wants to have to move a size up and two go back to the length of time it took to get it. Not waiting another month! Ain't nobody got time for that.

Ted wanted to work on his figure too.

Hello Wednesday

Kesh and Jac were very busy last week working in California, poor us. We're sure you all were lost without us last week... (just humor us) but don't fret because WE ARE BACK to inform you about yet another weekend in Kansas City!

Hold up!

Before we can chat about what's happening over the weekend, we can't forget what today is. What day is it? It's Hump day International Dance Day! Stop w h e r e v e r you are and take a minute to break it down.

.......

funny dancing bad dancing gif

.......

Done shakin' and droppin' it? Back to business.

This Friday through Sunday, May 1-3, is the 30th Brookside Art Annual presented by Saint Luke's Health System. Enjoy Art from around the region along with light music in the evening. Visit BrooksideKC.org for more information.

Need an excuse to get fancy for night? Knock the dust off those tuxes and squeeze into those old dresses for Afentra's Prom. That's right, you, Mr. or Mrs. 28 year old can go to prom without looking like a pedo because Friday 96.5 the Buzz is hosting prom which is a free -say what?!- concert at the Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland. Great music and great times with Vance Joy, The Kooks, Joywave and Hembree.*

Wake up, wake up, wake up it's the first of tha month. Check out our It's Only Here 12 Times Each Year post for more information about First Fridays.

What are we doing this weekend? Well, for starters we are getting our run on Saturday in the Olathe Heart & Sole race benefiting the Special Olympics. Wish us luck as we truck along the 3.2 miles. And of course we can't forget about the Royals! Jac will be at the game Sunday afternoon cheering on our boys in blue, but most importantly- tailgating in the parking lot of Kauffman.

#KeshandJac and comment below to let us know your weekend plans

Now that you're in the know, feel free to get back to dancing!

Kesh and Jac Take Los Angeles

We love KC, but that title has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? E!, we're available for our own reality show whenever you're ready.

It's hard to believe we don't have it ALL in the Midwest, but as fun as it is to get weird at Party Cove at the Lake of the Ozarks, it's not the same as taking a stroll on the beach and gazing over the vast ocean. How romantical.

Our beach photo shoot for your viewing pleasure.

Several glasses of wine deep + a scenic view = a photo op we couldn't miss.

Let's be real, we're Midwesterners at heart and the beach loses it's luster after a few days. Especially on the west coast where the water's cold as shit. It was actually cold e v e r y w h e r e last week- Agoura Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice Beach.

Just casually hiking in Malibu, searching for our pal, Bruce Jenner's house. Who knew SoCal was so mountainous? This adventure was a 2 mile hike up hill! Our asses were sore for days.

Unfortunately we didn't run into any celebs, but it was quite an experience to walk the same streets (they're not street walkers) sidewalks as the Kardashian/Jenner clan do as we spent the week hanging out in Calabasas and Malibu. Although we were walking in our Keds and not Loubs so it wasn't exactly the same. #cashflowproblems

Pros to the Midwest= the food.
Cons to the Midwest= the food.

You're not going to find a pulled pork bbq sandwich with a giant side of fried onion rings in Los Angeles- the City of Skinny People. That's what Los Angeles means, right? This being said, being in LA for a week is incredibly helpful in pre-summer weight loss goals because there's a health food café on every corner. Yes, KC, we're blaming you for our battle of bulge, but let's be clear- this is only problematic in the spring. We're not mad about the weight gain during our winter hibernation.

View from our hike in the Bu.

Thanks for your hospitality, LA, but we're glad to be back in KC,
